BN government fair and consistent in developing Sabah
KOTA KINABALU, April 16 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) government has been fair and consistent in developing the rural and urban areas of Sabah.
Such development had been fairly distributed including in education, said Sabah Ex-Teachers Association president Datuk Zulkifli Jaafar.
He said much of Sabah´s rapid development had been engineered by Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.
"Tan Sri Musa gave much attention to the advancement of educational facilities in the state. He has encouraged the establishment of polytechnics, local colleges and college universities including those under Yayasan Sabah.
"Not forgetting the development of the Sandakan Education Hub to make affordable education accessible to rural kids, " he said in a statement after he and 13 other members of the association paid a courtesy call to the chief minister at his official residence, Sri Gaya, today.
He said Musa had been instrumental in ensuring a more sustainable development for Sabah, moving away from primary based industries to a more diversified economy based on tourism, agriculture and manufacturing.
According to Zulkifli, Musa had also contributed a lot to the development of basic infrastructure in Sabah as a result of the good Federal-State relations that he had fostered especially with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"On behalf of the Ex-Teachers Association Of Sabah, we pledge our undivided support for Tan Sri Musa´s continued leadership," he said.
On school development, he thanked the BN government for paying attention to the needs of Sabah especially in addressing dilapidated schools in rural areas.
Meanwhile, Musa told his visitors that they as retirees could still contribute valuable experience to the people.
"The state government will always remember the contributions made by ex-teachers," the chief minister said.
