Kedah BN does not fear Dr M, Mukhriz - Ahmad Bashah

ALOR SETAR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Kedah Barisan Nasional (BN) is not afraid to face Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who will contest in Langkawi and his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz in Jerlun on Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) tickets in the 14th General Election (GE14) as BN have candidates of calibre, said Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.

He was confident the BN candidates would defeat them.

Ahmad Bashah said the people of Langkawi should be cautious and evaluate themselves Dr Mahathir's ungrateful act by moving to Langkawi and deserting the Kubang Pasu parliamentary constituency which he had represented for 30 years.

"... He needs to remember that it was the people of Kubang Pasu who supported and enabled him to contest on the BN ticket until he became prime minister," he told reporters after opening a ‘Semarak Perpaduan´ Seminar here today.

"He is dumping the people of Kubang Pasu who supported him for 30 years. Do the people of Langkawi want to be treated in similar manner" He will run too. The people must also know whatever development Tun Dr Mahathir had done in Langkawi was because of the government and not on an individual capacity, " he said.

The announcement on where Dr Mahathir and Mukhriz will be contesting was made in Langkawi yesterday. Mukhriz, who is a former menteri besar of Kedah, will also be contesting the Jitra state seat.
