Langkawi folks better off without Dr M -- Nazri Aziz

LANGKAWI, April 16 (Bernama) --Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed will not be able to do anything to continue development in Langkawi even if he wins in the Langkawi parliamentary seat in the 14th general election (GE14), said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.
He said the former prime minister could not do much on his own as he would not have the backing of the federal government.
"When you are with the opposition, how can you help? So it will only benefit him. He gets a salary, an allowance (as an MP)," he said after launching the Pakat Mai Langkawi programme organised by Tourism Malaysia at Pantai Tanjung Rhu here tonight.
Nazri was commenting on the decision by Pakatan Harapan to field Dr Mahathir as their candidate for the Langkawi parliamentary seat in GE14.
He added that the decision was proof that Dr Mahathir had reneged on his words that he never wanted the Malays who form the majority group in Langkawi, to be split.
