MUAR, April 17 (Bernama) -- It has become a routine for a senior citizen here to vote for Barisan Nasional (BN) during each general election.

Convinced by the fact that only BN can take care of the people's welfare, 100-year-old Ngadiah Kasiman, who has voted since the first GE, will vote for the coalition yet again this time.

Ngadiah, who has been living in Kampung Sagil Parit 1, near here, for over 60 years, is originally from Serom 4, Muar, but moved to Sagil after marrying her husband Sarman Sonokario, who died in 2006.

"As long as I am alive, I will vote for the 'dacing' (BN), I don't want any other party," she told Bernama when met at her home in Kampung Sagil Parit 1 here. Her Javanese dialect was translated by her daughter, Jaminah Sarman, 57.

Ngadiah said she was happy that her principle was shared by her daughter and son-in-law, Ahmad Omar Ithnin, 59, who have voted BN to victory in the Gambir area for almost four decades.

Jaminah said since she turned 21, she had been advised by her mother to vote for BN because it had brought about various development in the area.

"It's true. Since I came to know of the meaning of development, I can see how Kampung Sagil had advanced from having no electricity and tap water to what it is today, with all the facilities including internet access brought about by BN.

"So this time (GE14) mother, me, my husband and children who are eligible to vote will all vote for BN regardless of who the candidate is, because we know our choice is not wrong," she said.

Jaminah said her mother was also a recipient of the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) and Senior Citizen\'s Aid from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) every month.

"These aids are proof that senior citizens are not being sidelined. It also helps me reduce my cost of living, because I care for my mother now," said Jaminah, who also receives BR1M.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Omar said he was thankful to the current government for being able to lead a comfortable life with his family, adding that three of his six children were civil servants, with various benefits, including pension.
