PUTRAJAYA, April 17 (Bernama) -- MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam is almost certain that MIC would contest in the Cameron Highlands parliamentary constituency to defend the seat in the 14th General Election (GE14).
The statement of Dr Subramaniam, who is also Health Minister, was a reaction to the statement issued by MyPPP president Tan Sri M.Kayveas on his Facebook social account that he has been asked to consider contesting in the Segambut parliamentary seat in GE14 but rejected it.
MyPPP was eyeing the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat which was traditionally contested by the MIC.
In GE13, the Cameron Highlands seat was contested and won by MIC through Datuk Seri G.Palanivel who became MIC president before he left the party.
Surprised by Kayveas's statement, Dr Subramaniam, who was met by the media after giving a presentation on 'The Journey of Healthcare: Ministry of Health Malaysia' at his ministry here today, said: "Oh, he (Kayveas) has answered, you all can just use the quotes from his statement."
Meanwhile, Dr Subramaniam said the list of MIC candidates has been finalised and was just waiting for the official announcement of Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
