PPBM to contest in 10 parliamentary, 18 state seats in Johor
JOHOR BAHRU, April 17 (Bernama) -- Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) today confirmed to contest in 10 parliamentary and 18 state seats in Johor in the 14th General Election (GE14).
However, PPBM secretary Datuk Osman Sapian said the full list of candidates was expected to be announced by the party's chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at Pagoh on April 19.
"The names are there but there is a small problem. I can say that (the list) is 99 per cent ready but we have agreed in the meeting just now not to announce it tonight.
"I can say that there are four women candidates, two Youth candidates, seven former UMNO veterans while the rest are new faces," he told reporters after chairing the Johor PPBM special meeting here today.
According to Osman, the state seats that the party would be contesting in are Machap, Sri Medan, Bukit Pasir, Benut, Kempas, Kahang, Semarang, Bukit Kepong, Tanjung Puteri, Gambir, Parit Raja, Buloh Kasap, Permas, Bukit Permai, Puteri Wangsa, Tenang, Panti and Endau.
However, he did not mention the parliamentary seats that the party would contest.
So far, Dr Mahathir has announced Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman as the candidate for Pakatan Harapan and PPBM in the Muar parliamentary seat.
This is the second time that the PPBM has postponed the announcement of candidate for state seats after last Sunday.
