PASIR SALAK, April 17 (Bernama) -- The tactic of switching constituencies in elections proves that the relevant opposition leaders have failed as elected representatives, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
He said they moved to another seat after making promises and not walking the talk in one constituency as they knew they did not have the support of the constituents.
Tajuddin said the move to field Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming, the former MP for Taiping, as the Pakatan Harapan candidate in Teluk Intan in the 14th general election proved that Nga would lose if he were to contest in Taiping.
"This shows that people in Taiping have rejected him (Nga) and he knows that he is likely to lose if he were to contest again in Taiping. He promised many things but did not walk the talk, thus angering the people in Taiping.
"It is a sign that he and the DAP are not accepted. As such, he comes to Teluk Intan," he said after officiating at the ground-breaking of the Kampung Gajah Fire and Rescue Station project here today.
Tajuddin was commenting on the announcement of Nga as the candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng yesterday.
