Politics for development an advantage to BN

KOTA KINABALU , April 17 (Bernama) -- Papar UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Ismail said realistic and implementable policies such as the Barisan Nasional's (BN) manifesto is what the people really need and not political rhetorics.

He said, while Barisan Nasional was always synonymous with politics for development, the opposition parties were desperately trying to mislead Sabahans with their 'Sabah Ubah' and ?Sabah for Sabahans' rhetorics. "To a certain extent, Sabahans are unneccessarily burdened with this kind of lip service, as it (the slogan) does not provide a clear vision for the state or nation.

"The truth is, people don't really understand what are the real agenda behind 'Sabah Ubah'. How is it going to be implemented and how is it going to benefit the people in terms of economic prosperity, political stability and national unity.

"To the layman, 'Sabah Ubah', is just political rhetorics and not deliverable in many senses, compared to BN's realistic, implementable and inclusive manifesto," he told Bernama.

The BN 2018 general election manifesto, unveiled by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, recently, contained 341 initiatives.

"If they (the opposition) are talking about the rights of Sabah, the BN manifesto has put it very clearly that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 will be realised by consensus.

"As far as Sabah is concerned, the opposition's idea of 'Sabah Ubah' could bring political and economic uncertainty to the people and the state. It could also derange the existing good relationship between the State and Federal government.

"The rural people will be the biggest loser if the on-going and performing BN-initiated poverty eradication programmes are to be scrapped,"he said.

Rahim, who is also Sabah Land Development Board Chairman, said, Sabah needed not only a good leader but a good planner who could bring socio-economic prosperity to the people and the state.

"As I see it Sabahans are more comfortable with the BN because of the party's proven track record in fulfilling its pledges to improve the well being of the people and better future for the State," he said.

He said the present good and functional relationship between the Federal and State governments, especially under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, had given a lot of advantages to Sabah in so many ways.

Even Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, the Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah president, admitted that there was a lack of cooperation and unity among the opposition parties in Sabah, which is in fact confusing the people .

Since the Registrar of Societies (RoS) has already ordered Pribumi to temporarily disband for 30 days, Warisan leaders must now be very desperate to look for a new political partner in Peninsular, he added.
