PAS tandardises baiah for all states

TUMPAT, April 19 (Bernama) -- PAS is standardising the party's bai'ah pledge for all its candidates in the 14th general election, including on the divorce clause, said its deputy president, Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

He said the party's Syura Council had decided to have the same bai'ah for all states, including Kelantan, which included the divorce clause in the last general election.

"As for component parties in Gagasan Sejahtera and the PAS Supporters' Club (DHPP), they will sign a letter of undertaking to obey and be loyal to the people's choise, to not betray and be steadfast (istiqamah) with the party's struggle," he added.

He told reporters this after a special prayer and ceramah (political talk) in the compound of the Wakaf Bharu Market here last night.

He said the pledge of the bai'ah and signing of the letter of undertaking would be held on April 27, which is a day before the nomination for GE14.

Asked on factors for some incumbent elected representatives to be dropped from re-contesting their seats in the coming general election, Tuan Ibrahim said it was not because of their performance.

"Some have served for too long, there are also who do not want to contest again to give way for new people," he added.
