SEGAMAT, April 20 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) government is a government that makes education a priority in the nation's development agenda, said the incumbent for Segamat parliamentary constituency, Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam.
"This proves that the BN government is concerned with the needs of the people as opposed to other matters," he said at the ground breaking ceremony of Sekolah Menengah Sains Segamat here today.
Dr Subramiam, who is also Health Minister, said the construction of the school was an example of the government's effort to develop the country by providing a good education for the people to enable more skilled manpower to be produced in future.
He said if this could be done, then the government could definitely meet the demand for skilled manpower, thus making it on par with other developed countries.
The fully residential school that can accommodate 750 students and to be equipped with seven science laboratories, will be built with a federal allocation of RM65 million.
