Kedah BN launches GE14 manifesto, focuses on seven main clusters

ALOR SETAR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Kedah Barisan Nasional (BN) today launched its manifesto for the 14th general election (GE14) themed 'Continuing Development, Propelling Dreams' which contained seven special clusters, worth RM65.3 billion for the people in Kedah.

The seven clusters comprise the RM55.1 billion worth of high impact projects, people well-being livelihood programmes (RM2.7 billion), infra and utility (RM6.5 billion), tourism (RM60 million), education and human capital (RM14 million), religious (RM581 million) and youths (RM238 million).

Kedah BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said just like the 13th general election that had taken place, Kedah BN continued to be committed and aspired to fulfill its promises and responsibilities for continual progress and to realise the dreams of the people in the state.

"We are grateful that the GE13 pledges, despite facing various challenges, we managed to achieve (fulfill) over 97.64 per cent. That means our promises are not merely empty promises. Hence one third of the manifesto contents unveiled tonight has been implemented.

"One third of the fund allocations and fund approval is available. The remaining one-third from the initiative in this manifesto which outlines 12 thrusts is ready to be drawn up with initial work being work out," he said when launching the Kedah BN Manifesto here tonight.

Also present were Kedah BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, Kedah Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Cheah Soon Hai, Kedah MCA chairman Datuk Lee Chee Leong and State MIC chairman Datuk Jaspal Singh.

Ahmad Bashah said to ensure that the well-being of the people are taken care of, the state BN was now committed in offering incentives including capital injection to entrepreneurs, the continuation of free water scheme, as well as the continuation of free pre-marriage course and mass wedding programme for young people.

In addition, among the large-scale projects that would benefit the people in the state were the Kedah Rubber City which provided 15,000 jobs, the upgrading of the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport (to allow international flights to the state) and the construction of a RM500 million cancer treatment centre in Sungai Petani, he said.

Ahmad Bashah said the connectivity and utility facilities were also contained in the manifesto by upgrading a 26-kilometre stretch federal road between Alor Setar and Kangar and the implementation of the Jeniang Transfer project that would benefit 18,000 farmers.

"What is presented is not solely our empty promises or illusion. As a responsible (caretaker of the) state government, Kedah BN is always looking forward. BN is capable of administering the state and country with integrity," he said.
