GE14: Development in Penampang a plus for BN

PENAMPANG, April 21 (Bernama) -- The fact that Barisan Nasional has not turned its back on Penampang in terms of development is a plus for the coalition to wrest back the constituency from the opposition in the 14th general election (GE14).

"Penampang is not BN´s yet but I believe the people have changed their minds, in favour of BN, that is. I hope they will allow BN to continue with the development here," Datuk John Ambrose said while launching a 1Malaysia Mobile Community Transformation Centre (CTC) programme at Kampung Madsiang last night.

The Penampang UMNO division chief and senator cited the RM8.5 million allocation to upgrade the Donggongon Market which is more than 30 years old as one reason for the people to choose BN.

"It is also proof that BN has a leader who is concerned for the well-being of the people," he said of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who made the announcement on the allocation during a visit here in January.

He said Najib's concern even extended to the Native Court which the prime minister did not leave without an allocation for its operations.

"No other leader before him had cared to do that. This court is very important to the Kadazandusun, Murut and Rungus in Sabah. Without it, our young people would likely forget the customs and traditions of the earlier generations, " John said.
