Perak BN launches manifesto, outlines seven main thrusts





IPOH , April 21 (Bernama) -- The Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) today launched its manifesto for the 14th general election (GE14), with the theme 'For Harmony And Prosperity', which outlines seven main thrusts and targets seven categories of people.

It was launched by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, who is also the State BN chairman , at the Menteri Besar's official residence here today.

The seven pledges in the manifesto are strengthening the state's economy and increasing investment; ease reducing cost of living and creating employment opportunities; housing; empowering human capital by ensuring education opportunities; ensuring prosperity, security and peace; ensuring sustainable development and making Perak an international destination.

The manifesto gives priority to seven categories of people, comprising women, young people, Orang Asli, people with disabilities , village people, those staying in housing estates and senior citizens.

On the pledge to strengthen economy and increase investments, Perak BN promises to set up a free trade zone in Seri Iskandar, making Perak an automotive hub that will focus on Autocity in Mualim District (Proton-Geely) and installation of vehicles in Bagan Datuk.

Apart from that, the Perak BN also promises to build a new airport in Seri Iskandar, a MICE centre in Kinta Valley, set up food valley in all districts and also create economic cluster in all districts.

On the second pledge on reducing living cost and creating employment opportunities, the Perak BN promises, among others, to set up a Amanjaya mobile distribution centre in all districts, no increase in water tariff for residence/domestic use and increase the YBU food aid.

The third pledge on housing, involves construction of transit homes for youths, to have additonal 35,000 affordable homes within the next five years, housing program for newly weds, increase allocation for 'Infra Bina Upaya' housing scheme and exemption of legal fees for Amanjaya I and II houses.

For the fourth pledge on empowering human capital and ensuring education opportunities, the Perak BN promises to offer the Amanjaya Living Scheme for Perak-born students Tin all public institutions of higher learning in the country, and an additional RM500 for recipients of state's bursaries with CGPA of 3.7.

The fifth pledge on ensuring prosperity, security and peace; the Perak BN promises an increase in general welfare aid of between RM300 and RM500, seven days unrecorded leave for civil servants to attend to their sick parents, upgrade sub-district Selama to a full district and upgrading of roads, such as Jalan Ipoh-Lumut, Kampar-Bidor federal road and Slim River-Tanjung Malim federal road.

For the sixth pledge on sustainable development, the Perak BN promises to conserve the forest reserves, open Amanjaya Elephant Sanctuary and also increase the state park for environment conservation and preservation.

The seventh pledge on making Perak and international destination, the state BN promises to boost the state's tourism industry by promoting, among others, the Kinta Valley Geopark, and increase the number of Unesco heritage sites in the state, such as the Royal Belum State Park and the Teluk Intan Leaning Tower.
