Perak BN manifesto not election candy or sweets - Zambry

IPOH, April 21 (Bernama) -- The Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto for the 14th general election that was presented today did not offer candy or sweets, but is based on future mission and growth strategy to continue to develop the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the manifesto, themed 'For Harmony and Prosperity', outlined seven pledges and targeted seven categories of people was a continuity of development and growth from the the past five years.
"We don't just make promises that cannot be fulfilled. We make pledges based on experience and capability to administer the state. We are confident we can and capable of implementing them.
"I'm sure all quarters, the ordinary people, traders, rural folks and those in housing estates will make their evaluation based on this BN manifesto," he said at a media conference after launching the manifesto at the Menteri Besar's official residence here today.
About 5,000 members of BN component parties attended the launch. They included Perak BN deputy chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad and Perak MCA chairman Datuk Mah Hang Soon.
Zambry said 75 per cent of the pledges in the manifesto that was launched today were new initiatives to ensure continuity in the state's development.
"We have Perak Amanjaya Blueprint in the last general election. Now, we have Perak Amanjaya 2.0. It is a continuity. We have to renew and make some new projection," he said.
With the launch of the manifesto today, Zambry urged the BN machinery to go all out to convince the people on BN's capability based on the achievements made by the coalition since the last five years.
Meanwhile, Zambry said the the young people were the main thrust in the GE 14 manifesto in an effort to empower them, with pledges to introduce special programmes for them, including housing.
"The focus of empowering the young people is to give them hope through various initiatives to be carried out, such as expanding the implementation of Akademi Insan Muda Amanjaya and providing employment opportunities for them," he added.
