Two Penang exco, two MP, two assemblymen dropped from DAP candidate list

GEORGE TOWN, April 21 (Bernama) -- The Penang DAP has dropped two exco members, two members of parliament (MPs) from the 13th Parliament and two assemblymen from the 13th State Legislative Assembly for the coming 14th General Election (GE14).
The exco members are Lim Hock Seng, 70, (Public Works, Public Utilities and Transportation) and Danny Law Heng Kiang (Tourism Development and Culture).
The two MPs are two- term Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi, 62, and Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik, 40. The assemblymen are Bagan Dalam assemblyman A.Tanasekharan, 62; and Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Lau Keng Ee, 38.
As for the newcomers, M. Sathees, Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) councillor, will be contesting at Bagan Dalam while former exco special officer Daniel Gooi Zi Sen will contest at Pengkalan Kota.
During the announcement of the candidates today, state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said they had been shortlisted by the committee.
He will contest the Padang Kota state seat and re-contest the Tanjong parliamentary seat, replacing Ng Wei Aik who held the office for one term.
The DAP strongman (Chow) started his political career as Tanjong MP from 1999 to 2013 before giving way to Ng.
Meanwhile, Penang Chief Minister and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng announced he would be defending the Bagan parliamentary seat which he won in 2008, while R.S.N. Rayer who was the Seri Delima assemblyman for two terms would contest the Jelutong parliamentary seat for the GE14.
He noted it was important for Chow to take a parliamentary seat as he might succeed him as chief minister.
As for the party's manifesto, he said it would be announced on Wednesday.
