Perak BN candidates pass screening - Zambry

IPOH, April 21 (Bernama) -- All the Barisan Nasional candidates to be fielded in Perak in the 14th general election have passed the screening by the Department of Insolvency, Royal Malaysia Police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, said Perak BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

Zambry, who is the Perak Menteri Besar, said it was important to ensure that all the candidates were free from bankruptcy, criminal offences and court cases.

"We are very particular in selecting our candidates," he said at a press conference after launching the Perak BN manifesto here today.

Asked when he would announce the Perak BN candidates for GE14, Zambry said he would do so in a couple of days.

"Our list of candidates is ready. We are waiting for the final confirmation from the BN chairman (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak). We hope we will able to announce soon," he said.

Zambry advised all BN component parties to support the candidates to be fielded.

"All are BN candidates. We have reached a consensus. Let there be no one who makes assumptions when a party's candidate is fielded in a certain seat. It is a joint decision to ensure a BN victory in GE14," he said.

Asked whether there would be a swapping of seats among the parties, Zambry said this would be made known during the announcement of the names of the candidates.

Perak has 59 state seats. In GE13, the BN won 31, DAP 18 and PKR and PAS five each.
