BN youth not setting specific quota to contest in GE14

MELAKA, April 21 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth has not set any target or specific quota in listing youth candidates to contest in the 14th general election (GE14), said Khairy Jamaluddin.
Khairy, who is also UMNO Youth chief however said that if the number of youth candidates listed to contest in the GE14 exceeded the number of candidates in the previous general election, it was an encouraging sign for the party.
"I do not have a specific percentage ... we are not like Wanita who is asking for 30 per cent. I just want the number to be the same or more than (number of candidates) the previous election," he said after the launch of Melaka Youth's Gempur Brigade at the Hang Jebat Stadium here today.
The event was launched by Melaka BN chairman Datuk Seri Idris Haron who is also the Chief Minister of Melaka.
When asked who were candidates who would be contesting on the Youth ticket, Khairy said this would be announced soon and the Youth members have pledged to give full support to anyone who has been selected to contest.
As such he said the candidates must do their part as planned, to gain confidence of young voters, adding that he would guide and assist the candidates to ensure BN's victory in GE14.
