BN announces GE14 candidates For Federal Territory, Terengganu

KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) -- The return of former cabinet minister Tan Sri Zulhasnan Rafique and Wangsa Maju MCA division leader Datuk Seri Yeow Teong Look as BN candidates for the 14th general election (GE14), and the name of Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Jailani Johari being dropped from the list, are among the highlights during the announcement of the BN candidates for Terengganu and the Federal Territories.
Zulhasnan has been announced to contest the Setiawangsa parliamentary seat, which he served for two terms after winning the seat in the 11th and 12th general election, while Yeow is making a comeback for the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat, which he won in the 11th general election in 2004.
The announcement on the BN candidates also saw five women named as candidates, with three of them in the Federal Territories (FT) through MCA Women members, Tan Ean Ean for Bukit Bintang seat, Heng Sinn Yee (Cheras) and Chan Quin Er (Seputeh), while Terengganu named Marang Wanita UMNO chief Toh Puan Zaitun Mat Amin, to contest for the Bukit Payung state seat, and Dungun Wanita UMNO leader Datuk Zainun A. Bakar (Sura state seat).

In KUALA LUMPUR, the list of BN candidates as announced by the FT BN secretary Datuk Rizalman Mokhtar features six new faces - Adnan Abu Seman (UMNO-Bandar Tun Razak) , Ong Siang Liang (Gerakan-Kepong), Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan (MyPPP-Segambut) and the three women candidates from MCA.
FT BN chairman and Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor will defend the Putrajaya parliamentary seat for the fourth term, while Titiwangsa UMNO leader Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, who is also Second Finance Minister, and Labuan UMNO leader Datuk Rozman Isli, will defend their Titiwangsa and Labuan parliamentary seat, respectively.
Lembah Pantai UMNO leader Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin and Gerakan vice-president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau are also making a comeback and will contest for the Lembah Pantai and Batu parliamentary seats, respectively.
In KUALA TERENGGANU, the announcement on the list of BN candidates for GE14 was made by State BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman and it featured 19 incumbents, 15 new faces and four others who are making a comeback.
The incumbents included Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh (Besut) and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Shabery Cheek (Kemaman), while Ahmad Razif is defending his Seberang Takir state seat and former menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said in Kijal.
The new faces include for Terengganu State Secretary Datuk Wan Nawawi Wan Ismail (Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat) and motivator Dr Tengku Asmadi Tengku Mohamad (Kuala Nerus parliamentary seat).
The four candidates who are making a comeback are Datuk Rosol Wahid, who is replacing Jailani for the Hulu Terengganu parliamentary seat; Datuk Din Adam ( Dungun parliamentary seat); Datuk Abd Halim Jusoh (Permaisuri state seat) and Datuk Mohamed Awang Tera (Chukai state seat).
Apart from that, Yusof Awang Hitam and Datuk Nik Dir Nik Wan Ku who contested in the 13th general election, but lost, will be fielded as BN candidates for the Manir and Rhu Rendang state seats, respectively.
The Election Commission has fixed May 9 as polling day for GE14, with April 28 for nomination and May 5 for early voting.
