DPM wants higher majority votes in Kimanis, its two state seats in GE14





KIMANIS, April 23 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi wants to see Barisan Nasional (BN) getting higher majority votes in the contest for the Kimanis parliamentary seat and the two state seats in the constituency - Bongawan and Membakut - in the 14th general election (GE14).

He said the majority votes for the Kimanis parliamentary seat in the coming general election should be increased to 10,000 from 5,723 votes in the 13th general election.

As for the Bongawan and Membakut state seats, Ahmad Zahid , who is also BN deputy chairman, said the target was to increase the majority votes to 7,000 and 5,000 respectively.

In the last general election, BN won the Bongawan and Membakut state seats with a majority of 3,392 and 3,510 votes, respectively.

"If the target can be met in GE14, give me 90 days from today, I'll fulfill all the requests by the leaders of the three constituencies," he said in his speech at the Leader with the People session in Bongawan here today.

Also present were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, who is Kimanis UMNO division leader and the incumbent Kimanis Member of Parliament, Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin, incumbent Bongawan assemblyman Datuk Mohamad Alamin and incumbent Membakut assemblyman Datuk Mohd Arifin Arif.

At the event, Ahmad Zahid also launched the Kimanis BN election machinery and presented a cheque from the Implementation and Coordination Unit (ICU) at the Prime Minister's Department for repair of churches in the Kimanis parliamentary constituency.
