KUCHING, April 24 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) is leaving it to the people to re-evaluate the state's oldest political party's struggle throughout its existence in the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.

SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is the new Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Stampin in GE14, said the party's struggle was solely for Sarawak and it was being continued to prepare the future generations to lead the state to excellence.

He also wanted residents in the Stampin parliamentary constituency to relook the sacrifices, sincerity and work undertaken by the party all this while.

"As soon as the election is over, I want to focus on ensuring the future generation is ready to take over my place. This may be my last service to the people," he told reporters after Sarawak Chief Minister and State BN chairman Datuk Abang Johari Tun Openg announced the state BN list of candidates for GE14 at the Parti Pesaka Bersatu headquarters here today.

In the GE14, he will face Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen to wrest back the Stampin seat from the DAP.
