Being young is no obstacle for BN candidate for Tronoh

IPOH, April 24 (Bernama) -- Businessman Yuen Chan How is the youngest candidate nominated by Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) to recapture the Tronoh state seat from the DAP.

The 30-year-old Menglembu MCA Branch Youth chief, who was a new BN candidate, was optimistic Chinese voters would again support MCA and BN.

"Being young is not a hindrance or challenge because I have been a Batu Gajah District Councillor for four years, so I already know and have helped solve the problems of many people there.

"I am also confident they will return to support BN because in the two terms the opposition represented them, there had been no progress to the Batu Gajah Parliamentary constituency or the Tronoh state seat," he told Bernama when met here today.

The Papan-born explained that as a member of the Batu Gajah District Council, he knew the Tronoh residents wanted improvement to the infrastructure and economy.

Yuen was among 32 new faces representing BN at the State Assembly level, which was announced by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir at the Menteri Besar's Residence, here today.

In GE13, DAP candidate Yong Choo Kiong won the Tronoh seat with a majority of 6,919 votes by defeating BN candidate Yip Sze Choy.

In GE14, Yong was renominated to defend the seat.
