Unity, cooperation vital for BN electoral victory - Ahmad Zahid

PONTIAN, April 25 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today unity and cooperation are key to the victory of the Barisan Nasional in a general election.
The Deputy Prime Minister cited the case of the victory of the three BN elected representatives in Pontian in the last general election and attributed it to unity and cooperation.
Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan won the Pontian parliamentary seat while Datuk Tee Siew Kiong and Datuk Hasni Mohammad won the state seats of Benut and Pulai Sebatang within Pontian.
"This shows that our party can achieve victory so long as there is unity and cooperation," he said at a meeting with members of the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) and the community in Pontian at the hall of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Parit Betak in Benut near Pontian.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also BN deputy chairman, said the defeat of BN candidates in some seats was due to disunity.
"We get defeated not because the opposition is strong but because we are weak, disunited. In GE12 and GE13, we were defeated because of this (disunity)," he said.
Therefore, he reminded party members to set aside their feelings of dissatisfaction for the victory of the BN.
"Actually, any problem can be solved. However well the party is organised, without unity, there will be no victory.
"Let's resolve all our trivial problems and be united in ensuring the victory of the BN candidates," he said.
At the event, Ahmad Zahid handed over 10 motorcycles to Pontian Rela members and opened the multipurpose hall of the school.
Ahmad, Tee and Hasni as well as Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin were also present at the event.
