PRM lodges report on fraud involving PKR candidate

SHAH ALAM, April 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is urged to investigate an allegation of fraud related to sand management tender awards involving a Selangor state seat candidate from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for the 14th general election on May 9.
A Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) spokesman Khalid Ismath claimed that the candidate had also set up a company with a name that resembled that of a Selangor GLC with the intention of deceiving developers and contractors applying for sand management tenders in Selangor.
The alleged victims who paid hundreds of thousands of ringgit to the company only knew they were cheated after checking with the real GLC company for feedback on the status of their applications, he told reporters after making a report at the Selangor MACC office here.
The (real) GLC company, he said, had in an official letter last year also denied its involvement in the tender award and insisted it had nothing to do with the company.
"Because they were deceived, the tender applicants lodged police reports but until now no action has been taken against the party concerned," he added.
