NGO plays important role to help BN candidates - DPM Zahid
BAGAN DATUK, April 26 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said that non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have equally important role to help Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates win big in the 14th General Election (GE14).
He said this was because the NGO leaders and members had always been there to help BN candidates in their campaigns in the previous general elections.
"They were always willing to go to the ground to help BN candidates.
"Not just the NGOs, the participation of residents' associations and neighbourhood watch (RT) members are also equally important in helping BN candidates at every general election," he said at the leader-meets-people event in Sungai Dulang here today.
Ahmad Zahid said if BN candidate Datuk Khairuddin Tarmizi managed to secure the Hutan Melintang state seat, which is currently held by the opposition, he would channel more allocation to help the NGOs to carry out their programmes and activities in Bagan Datuk.
"Stop living in the dark under the opposition, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and let us work together to help BN candidate to win big in the GE14 so that various development and community projects can be implemented in Hutan Melintang," he said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid also described the GE14 as the general election which was showing the strongest solidarity among BN component parties.
As such, the BN deputy chairman said he wanted the spirit to be preserved and elevated to ensure bigger victory for the coalition.
"This is the first general election that shows the strongest solidarity among BN component parties. I'm very flattered to have leaders of MIC, myPPP, IPF and also NGOs here with us," he added.
