Still loyal to BN even if not re-nominated
KUANTAN, April 26 (Bernama) -- The struggle for the welfare of the people and for Barisan Nasional (BN) will be continued despite not being named as a candidate, said the incumbent for the Muadzam Shah state seat Datuk Seri Maznah Mazlan.
For the upcoming general election (GE14), Maznah who has held the seat for five terms has been replaced by the co-ordinator for the Muadzam Shah state assembly seat, Razali Kassim.
Speaking to reporters after a ceremony to announce and present appointment letters to Pahang BN candidates for GE14 at Yayasan Pahang here today, Maznah said she accepted the decision as she was convinced the party's top leadership had a good reason for it.
"My principle is simple, have confidence in the leadership, and so there is no question of being disappointed when you are not re-nominated. So, when the time comes, we just back off," she said.
Maznah said as the deputy head of the Rompin division and information head of Rompin UMNO, she would help her successor in his campaign.
Besides Maznah, two others who were not re-nominated were Datuk Dr Ahmad Shukri Ismail and Datuk Lau Lee, from the Pulau Tawar and Damak state seats.
According to Dr Ahmad Shukri, he accepted the decision as he had said he would not be contesting since the last general election.
He added he was confident the new candidate would have the energy to serve the people in the constituency.
"I will also help the party machinery campaign to ensure that Pulau Tawar state seat and the Jerantut parliamentary seat remain with BN," Ahmad Shukri who was replaced by a new face Nazri Ngah, said.
