SEB moves to ensure power supply reliability during election period
KUCHING, April 26 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), the state-owned electricity utility company, has taken the necessary action to ensure uninterrupted power supply on nomination and polling days of the 14th general election.
Its Group COO Lu Yew Hung said SEB had put in place a preparedness framework with additional standby teams dedicated to quick restoration in mobilising all necessary resources to ensure reliability of power supply for GE14.
He said in a statement that a liaison team has been set up for better coordination and quick response to issues over the campaign period.
SEB had intensified its technical team strength to minimise any supply interruption and to ensure quick restoration, especially on polling day, and would monitor closely feeders supplying the polling and vote-counting and tallying centres, he said.
"We will be stationing switching and standby personnel at strategic points in our system throughout the state. They will also be on standby at critical facilities to ensure swift recovery in the event of a breakdown," he said.
Lu cautioned election workers against hanging or displaying election material on or close to live electrical facilities during the campaign period, saying this could endanger their lives.
"Reports and enquiries can be channelled to Sarawak Energy's 24-hour Customer Careline at 1300-88-3111 and updates on shutdowns and supply interruptions can be obtained through Sarawak Energy's 'SEB Cares' Mobile App available for download at Apple's App Store for iOS and Google's Play," he added.
