5 youth leaders in Sabah BN's GE14 list

KOTA KINABALU, April 26 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) is fielding five youth leaders in the 14th general election.

They are Sabah BN Youth chief Hafez Yamani Musa who will stand in the parliamentary constituency of Sipitang; Penampang UPKO Disaster Bureau chief Ceasar Mandela Malakun (Penampang parliamentary seat), and PBRS deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup (Pensiangan parliamentary seat).

Two others are UPKO Kota Belud division chief Ewon Benedick who will stand in the state constituency of Kadamaian, and Tenom UMNO Youth chief Jamawi Jaafar (Kemabong state seat).

Speaking to reporters after the announcement of candidates' names, Hafez, 41, who is also Sabah Umno Youth chief said he would do more for the overall constituencies in Sipitang, revealing that he had been doing a lot of engagement for the youth.

"The event today brings good news to the state and nation as there is a balance between the young people and older people in candidacy," he added.

Mandela, 28, a businessman, said BN Penampang Youth's election machinery was fully prepared for GE14, while Ewon, 35, who is also UPKO Youth chief expressed his appreciation to the party leadership for the opportunity to contest in GE14.

PBRS president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup looks at his 36-year-old son Arthur's candidacy as appropriate in the effort to realise the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) in Sabah, and in Pensiangan in particular.

"He is very committed in the desire to fight for the interest of the people. I am sure he will bring Sabah's young generation to a higher level capable of managing the challenges towards TN50," he said.
