BN completes announcing candidates for GE14





KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional has completed the announcement of the names of its candidates for the 14th general election with the naming of its candidates for Pahang, Sabah and Perlis today.

The BN chairmen of the three states announced the names of the candidates comprising the experienced and the new, thus reflecting the seriousness of the BN in strengthening its base in setting up the second-echelon leadership.

In PAHANG, state BN chairman Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob announced that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would lead the BN into the contest in the state by himself defending the parliamentary seat of Pekan.

The seven other leaders defending their parliamentary seats in the state include Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (Bentong), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Bera), Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib (Maran) and Datuk Seri Ismail Said (Kuala Krau).

In SABAH, state BN chairman and Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman announced that he would defend the state seat of Sungai Sibuga for the sixth term in the May 9 polls.

He said 14 leaders would defend their parliamentary seats, among them UPKO president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (Tuaran), Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman (Kimanis), Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (Beluran) , Felcra chairman Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin (Kinabatangan).

UMNO treasurer and Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak (Kota Belud) and BN Strategic Communications director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan (Sepanggar). Abdul Rahman had moved from Kota Belud to Sepanggar.

In PERLIS, state BN chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim announced 10 new faces for the 18 seats -- three parliamentary and 15 state seats. Shahidan himself will defend the Arau parliamentary seat.

The Kangar parliamentary seat will be contested by new face Ramli Shariff.

The new faces for the state seats are Tei Cai Ann (Titi Tinggi), Rozaini Rais (Beseri), Siti Berenee Yahaya (Mata Ayer), Azizan Sulaiman (Santan), Chuah Tian Hee (Indera Kayangan), Hamizan Hassan (Kayang), Rozieana Ahmad (Pauh), Afifi Osman (Guar Sanji) and Che Zaidi Saidin (Sanglang).
