Kalabakan in the bag for BN
TAWAU, April 27 (Bernama) --- Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the parliamentary constituency of Kalabakan, Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh is optimistic about his chances of retaining the seat in the 14th general election.
"I'm not trying to belittle the opposition but the people understand, know that BN is already entrenched and I believe the people will continue to choose BN for its record," he told reporters when met at his residence here today.
In the general election in 2004 and 2008, Abdul Ghapur won the seat uncontested.
The parliamentary constituency has three state seats under it, namely, Merotai, Sebatik and Tanjung Batu.
Meanwhile, BN incumbent for Sebatik, Datuk Muis Picho said the voters would choose the party that had a proven track record in serving the people.
"Under BN, numerous projects were implemented including roads costing RM3.5 million; another ongoing project is the upgrading of mosques in Wallace Bay," he said expressing confidence that he would retain the seat that he won in GE13.
BN incumbent for Tanjung Batu, Datuk Hamisa Samat said GE14 would allow the people to assess the the party and compare its performance over the last five years, with the other contenders for the seat.
"Over the last five years, BN had provided many facilities for the people including a 1Malaysia internet centre in Kalabakan, Merotai, Tanjung Batu, and the latest will be at Felda Umas. The site has already been identified," she said. -- BERNAMA
