BN candidate in Batu Kawan confident of getting Chinese votes





BUTTERWORTH, April 27 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat is confident of getting the votes of the Chinese community in the constituency in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Datuk Jayanthi Devi Balaguru said this was based on the response she received from the Chinese in the constituency.

She said although Batu Kawan was known as a DAP stronghold, it was the BN that had carried out various development in addressing issues raised by the constituents there.

"We received a lot of feedback from the people in Perai, Bukit Tengah and Bukit Tambun on issues that are not addressed by the state government.

"Among the issues raised by residents are flooding and drainage, its housing policy which which does not benefit the locals, as well as on the land ownership of a Hindu temple in Kampung Main Road (Perai)," she told a press conference here, today.

Meanwhile, BN candidate for the Perai state seat, M. Suresh, advised the people to think rationally and not based on emotion when exercising their right as voters.
