GE14: Orang Asli community fully supports Hasan Malek's nomination

KUALA PILAH, April 27 (Bernama) -- The services Datuk Seri Hasan Malek are still needed despite the rumours that certain quarters were unhappy with his selection as Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate to defend the Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat in the 14th General Election (GE14).
One of those who expressed the support for Hasan was Kampung Langkap Tok Batin Sulak Panglima Besar, who said that the Orang Asli community's support for BN and Hasan remained intact as he had helped solved various problems faced by the community, as well as being approachable and friendly.
"He (Hasan) never neglected the Orang Asli community here and it was evident with the implementation of development projects, such as new roads, water and power supply, as well as recreational centre, for the people in our village.
"For us, supporting him in the GE14 is easy as he is very close to our hearts, approachable despite his busy schedules and responsibilities, he never neglected us the Orang Asli," he said when met by Bernama here today.
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Al-Miezaan Welfare Association president Musa Sadri said Hasan's credibility as an experienced leader was indispensable in the constituency.
"He is a seasoned leader in BN and has very strong influence on everyone, from all walks of life, including the young and for him being renominated is highly appropriate," he said.
In the meantime, Hasan, who is also the Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia, described the rumours as part of the political game and it would not interfere with his focus on defending his parliamentary seat in GE14.
"I didn't really think too much of it...what matters to me the most is to contribute to the BN's victory. I have been going down to several places, including district polling centres, and Alhamdulillah, the response has been very good.
"I will continue working to ensure wellbeing of the people in the constituency and this is the trust I need to shoulder. I can't say 100 per cent of people will support me, but I leave it to Allah to decide on my fate in the GE14," he told Bernama.
Having held the Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat for three terms since 2004, Hasan won the seat in the last general election after defeating Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus of PKR with 9,661-vote majority.
