GE14: 'Raja Bomoh' does disappearing act

BAGAN DATUK, April 28 (Bernama) -- Datuk Ibrahim Mat Zin, who calls himself 'Raja Bomoh', did not turn up to file his nomination papers for the Bagan Datuk parliamentary seat today.

The president of a Malay martial arts association known as Persatuan Seni Silat Gayong Ghaib Malaysia had announced his intention to contest as an Independent candidate.

He was nowhere to be seen by the time nomination closed at 10 am at the Dewan Gemilang of Sekolah Menengah Sains Bagan Datuk.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is defending the seat, said Ibrahim had been declared a bankrupt by the Department of Insolvency.

"I welcome his intention to contest, but he has a problem and that is not our responsibility," the Home Minister told a media conference after submitting his nomination papers to contest the seat he has held since 1995.

It is learned that Ibrahim made known his intention to withdraw from contesting for the seat in a post on the 'Raja Bomoh Politik' Facebook account yesterday.
