GE14: Fadillah challenged by PAS, Amanah candidates in Petra Jaya
KUCHING, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Petra Jaya parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight when the BN candidate Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is defending the seat, is challenged by Amanah candidate Datuk Dr Nor Irwan Ahmat Nor and PAS candidate Hamdan Sani in the 14th General Election (GE14).
At the candidate nomination centre in SMK Petra Jaya about 3,000 BN supporters led by Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg were present to give moral support to Fadillah while there were only few supporters from the other parties.
Fadillah, when met by reporters after the nomination process was completed, said he was confident of retaining the seat even though it was the first time he was involved in a three-cornered contest in the Petra Jaya constituency, which he held for three terms.
"This is a democratic country and we are contesting based on the basis of what we can give to the people. PBB, with the support of all BN component parties, is confident we can attain success," said the PBB senior vice president.
Fadillah is among the four federal ministers from PBB who are defending their respective seats in GE14. The others are Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim (Batang Lupar), Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (Batang Sadong), and Natural Resources and Enviroment Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (Santubong).
