Three contenders for Pokok Sena parliamentary seat




POKOK SENA, April 28 (Bernama) -- Three contenders of which two are new faces are vying for the Pokok Sena parliamentary seat in the 14th general election (GE14) on May 9.

Incumbent Amanah vice president Datuk Mahfuz Omar is bidding to retain the seat which he won in GE13 for PAS against BN's Shahlan Ismail with a 36,198-vote majority.

The two fresh candidates are UMNO Pokok Sena division chief Datuk Said Ali Syed Rastan, for Barisan Nasional and former national football player Radhi Mat Din, for PAS.

Meanwhile, the Bukit Lada state seat will see a four-cornered contest while Bukit Pinang and Derga are involved in a three-cornered fight. The three state seats are under the Pokok Sena parliamentary constituency.

One of the Independent candidates for Bukit Lada is Datuk Mohd Ismail Othman, a former UMNO Pokok Sena division treasurer.

The list was announced by returning officer Faudzi Ahmad.
