Three-cornered-fight for 'Tok Pa' in Jeli, Air Lanas
JELI, April W8 (Bernama) -- Incumbent Jeli Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, who is Kelantan Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, is challenged by PAS' Mohamad Hamid and Azran Deraman, of PKR-PPBM for the seat in the 14th general election.
The International Trade and Industry Minister will also defend the Air Lanas state, which is in the Jeli parliamentary constituency, in a three-cornered fight with Datuk Abdullah Ya'kub of PAS and Dr Aminuddin Yaacob (PKR-PPBM).
Returning Officer Zulkifle Ab Rahman announced the names of the contestants after nomination closed at the Jeli Land and District Office here.
Besides Air Lanas, Bukit Bunga and Kuala Balah are also state seats in the Jeli parliamentary constituency.
The contest for the Bukit Bunga state seat will also be a three-cornered fight among Datuk Mohd Adhan Kechik (BN-UMNO), Ramzi Mohd Yusoff (PAS) and Asran Alias (PKR-PPBM), while the Kuala Balah state seat will witness a straight-fight between BN's Datuk Abdul Aziz Derashid and Mohd Apandi Mohamad of PAS after PKR candidate Dr Mohd Hafidz Rizal Amran's nomination paper was rejected.
Mustapa, in blue baju Melayu, complete with 'sampin' and 'songkok', was accompanied by more than 3,000 supporters to the nomination centre.
