Three-cornered fight for Titiwangsa Parliamentary seat
KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Titiwangsa parliamentary seat will witness a three-cornered fight among BN, PKR and PAS candidates.
BN nominated seat incumbent and Titiwangsa UMNO division chief Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
PKR is fielding PPBM Wanita chief and former UMNO Puteri exco Rina Harun while PAS nominated Federal Territory PAS commissioner, Mohamad Noor Mohamad who is making his third appearance in the constituency.
The names of candidates were announced by Titiwangsa parliament constituency returning officer Asiah Husin.
Johari was the earliest to arrive at the nomination centre at Dewan Bestari Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Aminuddin Baki.
Speaking to reporters after the nomination, Johari regarded the three-cornered fight for the parliamentary seat as a major challenge to him.
"I see the three-cornered contest as something new to me. In 2013, I was in a one-to-one combat...this time whatever the result will depend on the voters and I will continue to campaign to convince them to continue giving me their mandate."
PKR- PPBM candidate, Rina Harun was positive about giving a tough fight in the three-cornered competition.
"We have expected (a three-cornered fight) but we will continue to highlight our manifesto and we specifically want women voters to go down to the ground to make their voices heard," she said.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Noor Mohamad of PAS believed voters would wisely pick the best candidate to represent them on May 9.
