KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Yew Teong Look, will face a three-cornered fight with PKR and PAS candidates in the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.
Returning officer Sulaiman Mohamed who announced the nomination for the constituency confirmed that the Federal Territory MCA chairman would be challenged by two other candidates, Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kew (PKR) and Razali Tumirin (PAS).
However, there was a tense moment at the Wangsa Maju nomination centre when Tan had forgotten to bring along her identity card, which almost barred her from submitting her nomination papers.
The problem was resolved when Tan's husband managed to bring her original identity card in time to the nomination centre at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Wangsa Melawati near here.
The Wangsa Maju parliamentary constituency has 88,482 registered voters.
Yew is not a newcomer as he had won the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat at the GE11 in 2004.
