Tok Pa wants big majority in Jeli
JELI, April 28 (Bernama) -- Jeli parliamentary seat incumbent Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed is targeting to retain the parliamentary seat and Air Lanas state seat with a larger majority in the 14th general election (GE14) on May 9.
He is confident the two other state seats in the Jeli parliamentary constituency namely Bukit Bunga and Kuala Balah would be won by BN's Datuk Mohd Adhan Kechik and Datuk Abdul Aziz Derashid respectively with a bigger majority.
"Groundworks have been carried out by us in the past five years to ensure the target is achieved and the people should choose BN as the party had proven its consistency in serving the people," he told reporters after submitting his nomination papers at the Jeli Land Office operations room here today.
Mustapa who is also Kelantan BN chairman is in a three-cornered fight for Jeli parliamentary seat would be challenged by Datuk Abdullah Ya'kub of PAS and Dr Aminuddin Yaacob (PKR-PPBM).
In GE13, Mustapa won the seat with a 5,269-vote majority while in the Air Lanas state seat, he scraped through with a majority of just 47 votes.
For Kuala Balah state seat incumbent, Datuk Abdul Aziz Derashid believed the people would support BN which had been proven to provide the best service.
"What we want is for the voting process to be carried out peacefully and smoothly," said Abdul Aziz who won the state seat with a 2,076-vote majority in GE13.
He was being challenged by Mohd Apandi Mohamad of PAS after the nomination papers of PKR candidate Dr Mohd Hafidz Rizal Amran was rejected.
For the Bukit Bunga state seat, Mohd Adhan will square off with PAS candidate Ramzi Mohd Yusoff and Asran Alias (PKR-PPBM).
In GE13, Mohd Adhan won with a 1,533-vote majority.
