PKR-PPBM candidate rejected in Bukit Pasir state seat

MUAR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Bukit Pasir, Pizi Jihat (PKR-PPBM) had his nomination papers rejected today and was not able to contest in the 14th general election.

This was announced by returning officer (RO), Zainor Adani at the Pagoh parliamentary constituency nomination centre in Pagoh Sports Complex near here today.

In this regard, the state seat will a straight fight between Datuk Noriah Mahat (BN-UMNO) and Captain (R) Najib Lep (PAS).

Meanwhile as expected, the Pagoh parliamentary seat will see three-cornered contest among Ismail Mohamed (BN-UMNO), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (PKR-PPBM) and Ahmad Nawfal Mahfodz (PAS).

A similar fight also emerged in Bukit Kepong when Zainor announced Mohamad Noor Taib (BN-UMNO), Muhamad Nur Iqbal Abd Razak (PAS) and Dr Sahrudin Jamal (PKR-PPBM) would be standing for the state seat.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin in a media conference said Pizi's nomination was related to his bankruptcy case.

"Initial checks showed he has a bankruptcy case and we told him to settle it and after finding his name has been cleared in the website, he was chosen as a candidate."

"But when submitting his documents to the RO, the latest check found he is still a bankrupt and is not eligible to contest," said Muhyiddin who is also PPBM president.

He said he was disappointed with the decision and PPBM and the party lawyer would be studying again the cause of the problem.
