TAMPIN, April 28 (Bernama) -- The three-cornered fights in the Tampin parliamentary and Gemencheh, Gemas and Repah state seats are expected to favour the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election (GE14), says Tampin UMNO division chief Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor.
The BN candidate for the Tampin parliamentary seat said the three-cornered fights were a reflection of the country's flourishing democracy.
"As in the Repah state constituency, I am confident the Chinese community there will not vote for PAS, couple with the majority of Malays there being UMNO members," he told reporters after the nomination process here today.
BN candidates for the three state seats are Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (Gemencheh), Datuk Abdul Razak Ab Said (Gemas) and Koh Kim Swee (Repah).
New face, Koh, said he was determined to recapture the Repah state seat from incumbent S. Veerapan from DAP.
PKR candidate for Tampin seat is Dr Hasan Bahrom while Saiful Adly Abdul Wahab in Gemencheh state seat, Baharuddin Arif Siri (Gemas) and S. Veerapan (Repah).
PAS fielded Major (R) Abdul Halim Abu Bakar in Tampin and Gemas, Ishak Maasin (Gemencheh) and Abdul Razakek Abdul Rahim (Repah).
Meanwhile, in JEMPOL, Jeram Padang state seat will see a four-cornered fight among BN, PKR, PAS and Independent candidates.
BN candidate Datuk L. Manickam said despite the stiff competition, he would ensure that BN would retain the seat in order to continue its development agenda to the public.
