GE14: Three-cornered fights for most seats in Perak - Zambry
MANJUNG, April 28 (Bernama) -- Judging by the candidates' nomination process in Perak today, the state will witness more than 10 three-cornered fights for most parliamentary and state seats in the 14th General Election (GE14), except in constituencies with majority Chinese voters.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said only a few constituencies would involve straight fights, and mainly between the BN and PKR-DAP candidates.
"I find that all the constituencies will have candidates vying for the seats, (as such) there is no seat which has been won uncontested," he told reporters at his residence here today.
Earlier, Zambry, who is also Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, submitted his nomination form for the Lumut parliamentary seat at the Mara Skills Institute (IKM)'s Dewan Anuar here today.
Zambry, who is contesting the Lumut parliamentary seat for the first time, will face Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli (PKR-Amanah) who last held the Kuala Krai parliamentary seat in Kelantan, and Mohammed Zamri Ibrahim (PAS) for the seat.
Meanwhile, Zambry, will also defend the Pangkor state seat that he held for the past three terms, and he will be challenged by Zainal Abidin Saad (PAS) and Nordin Ahmad Ismail (PKR-PPBM).
He also commented that the nomination process in all the constituencies in the state that lasted an hour from 9am today, has been smooth.
"Based on feedback I have received, I am satisfied with the security situation (during the nomination process) as this suggests we all want the state that is always safe, even when we are in general election mode," said Zambry, who thanked the security forces for ensuring the candidate nomination process went smoothly.
