Najib thanks election workers, security forces involved during nomination day

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak expressed his gratitude and thanks to the election workers and security forces personnel involved during the nomination day for the 14th General Election today.

He said they had indeed succeeded in ensuring that the nomination process for the GE14 ran smoothly and peacefully.

Najib also hoped that the situation would continue to persist throughout the 11-day campaigning period set by the Election Commission.

"Thank you to all the policemen, Rela members and all election workers involved in ensuring that the nomination process for the GE14 ran smoothly and peacefully across the country.

"I hope this situation will continue throughout the campaigning period, Insya-Allah. #HebatkanNegaraku, " he tweeted today.

Najib is in a four-cornered fight to defend his Pekan parliamentary seat which he had held since 1976.

His challengers are Mohamad Zahid Mat Arip of PKR, Captain (Rtd) Ahiatudin Daud (PAS) dan Datuk Kadir Sainudin (Independent).

In the last general election, Najib won with 35,613-vote majority in a straight fight against PKR candidate Mohd Fariz Abd Talib.
