PAS new face says will give Azmin Ali a tough run in Bukit Antarabangsa

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- PAS first time candidate Sharifah Haslizah Syed Ariffin believes she can wrest the Bukit Antarabangsa state seat from PKR heavyweight Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali based on the redelineation of electoral boundaries and support received by her party in the last general election.

With the redrawn boundaries, several PAS stronghold areas such as Cempaka and Hulu Kelang have come under Bukit Antarabangsa in GE14, said the 41-year-old who is PAS information chief in Ampang.

She said PKR had won the seat in 2013 because of PAS support. The two parties have parted ways since.

"Don't forget before this, PKR's victory was due to a joint effort with the PAS grassroots. It was PAS that mobilised our forces to play the winning role for PKR when the two parties were together," she told Bernama after submitting her nomination at Dewan Dato Ahmad Razali, here today.

After straight fights in the last three bouts, Bukit Antarabangsa will be a crowded affair this year with three others joining the fray including Azmin's flamboyant celebrity younger brother Azman Ali standing as an independent, Salwa Yunus (BN) and Ahmad Kamarudin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia).

Azmin has held the seat for two terms, winning with a majority of 4,044 votes in 2013.
