GE14: Unopposed victory gives Mohamad more time to help fellow BN candidates
REMBAU, April 28 (Bernama) -- Now that he has been returned unopposed in the 14th general election, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said he would have more time to help the other BN candidates in the state to garner the people's support.
"I will be able to give assistance and whatever else my fellow candidates in the other constituencies will need," he said to reporters after he was declared the winner of the Rantau state seat.
His only opponent, S. Streram of PKR, and his proposer and seconder were prohibited from entering the nomination centre because they did not bring along the Election Commission candidate accreditation pass.
Mohamad, who is also the Negeri Sembilan BN chairman, said he was grateful for the victory and said he would now focus on helping with the campaign.
He said he would give special attention to ensuring the victory of Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin who is defending the Rembau parliamentary seat that contains the Rantau, Paroi and Kota state seats.
"I will go down to the ground and meet the voters in Rantau and coax them to vote for Khairy," he said.
The victory has enabled Mohamad to retain the Rantau seat for the fourth term since 2004.
Meanwhile, Streram, addressing his supporters, said he would lodge a police report objecting to the decision of disallowing his entry into the nomination centre.
