PKR to file petition on Tian Chua's disqualification Monday




GEORGE TOWN, April 28 (Bernama) -- PKR will file a petition to the court this Monday on the case of PKR Vice-President Tian Chua's nomination being disqualified by the returning officer (RO) for the Batu parliamentary seat in Selangor today.

Its Vice-President, Nurul Izzah Anwar said this during her speech at the Mega 'Ceramah' in Padang Kota, here tonight said that Tian Chua had called her earlier to inform about the matter.

Earlier today, EC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah had said that the decision to disqualify Tian Chua was done by the RO and that he could file a petition with the courts to decide on his disqualification.

"Let it be brought to court and let them decide. We will abide by the court's ruling," said Mohd Hashim at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.

He added that it was premature to rule out that Tian Chua to be completely disqualified from contesting in in the 14th General Election.

Tian Chua was announced disqualified from contesting the Batu parliamentary seat at the nomination centre today on account of his RM2,000 fine imposed by the Shah Alam High Court.
