Titi Tinggi independent candidate pays deposit through crowdfunding
PADANG BESAR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Yaacob Man, the sole independent candidate in Perlis, is committed to contest in the 14th General Election, having received strong support from family members and villagers, who even helped him to come up with the deposit.
Yaacob, 59, will face Barisan Nasional's (BN) Teh Chai Aan, Teh Seng Chuan (PKR) and Khamis Yub (PAS) for the Titi Tinggi state seat in the Padang Besar parliamentary constituency.
"I had contested as an Independent candidate in the last general election, and prior to that I was the chairman of the Village Development and Security Committee.
"So, the villagers remembered my services to the community and supported me to contest without me having to come up with RM8,350 from my own coffers.
"It has all been contributed by the villagers, just like the previous election," he told Bernama at the nomination centre set up at the Beseri MARA Junior Science College near here today.
