12 MCA members sacked for violating party constitution

ALOR SETAR, April 29 (Bernama) -- Twelve MCA members were sacked from the party today for breaching the party's constitution.

MCA Disciplinary Board chairman Tan Sri Chor Chee Heung said seven of them were sacked for standing as candidates for rival parties and as independents in the 14th general election (GE14), while the remaining five for becoming proposers and seconders to the candidates.

He named them as Ting Choon Hai and Lim Yak Hong of Tebrau MCA , both contesting as Independent candidates for Puteri Wangsa state seat, Tee Boon Tsong (Pulai MCA) and Ng Yak Howe (Bakri MCA), both contesting as DAP candidates for the Senai and Bentayan state seat, respectively.

Chin Kwai Heng and Chin Kwai Leong, both from Batu Gajah MCA, who are contesting as PSM candidates for the Tronoh and Menglembu state seat, respectively, and a MCA member from Bukit Mertajam, who is standing as a PKR candidate in Kulim.

He said also sacked were five members who stood as their proposers and seconders.

"We found 12 of the members guilty for violating Article 22 of the party constitution. Their action affects the party's image and can be regarded as sabotaging the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates contesting in their respective areas," he told a media conference here today.

Chor said the decision to sack the 12 members was made last night with the consent of the party's Presidential Council.

"The Disciplinary Board, after studying their names, and as provided under Article 124(1) , recommended that they be sacked from the party with immediate effect. The board has no power to sack them," he said.

Chor advised MCA members not to act in haste and to use proper channel to resolve their dissatisfaction.

Any dissatisfaction in MCA should be solved within the party and members should not go against the party regulations and constitution, he added.
