Bandar Tun Razak BN's candidate vows to uplift people's living standards

KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- Bandar Tun Razak, a suburb in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, is a constituency inhabited by over half a million people.
Despite having all the modern facilities and a complete transportation network, including the integrated transporation hub or better known as TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan), some of the people are still being deluged with various issues of urbanisation.
With that in mind, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat, Adnan Abu Seman, vowed to solve all the issues and uplift the people's living standards if given the mandate by the voters in the 14th General Election (GE14).
Speaking to Bernama, 42-year-old Adnan from Kampung Malaysia here, said the people in Bandar Tun Razak comprised mostly those in the M40 and B40 groups.
"There are also hawkers and petty traders who are hoping that the government will ensure their wellbeing and improve the existing hawkers' areas.
"They are the groups who are affected by the rapid development taking place in the constituency as more and more areas are being developed, while hawkers' areas are getting smaller and smaller," he said, adding that there were over 1,000 hawkers operating in the constituency.
Adnan also vowed to solve the issue of foreigners who allegedly dominated certain hawkers areas in the constituency, so that the local hawkers' survival rate could be increased.
Besides, the BN candidate, who is a lawyer, also planned to set up a legal aid centre to help the underprivileged to get free legal advice and service, including in matters related to land, house and inheritance.
On BN's chances to wrest back the seat from party-less Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim who had held the seat for the past 10 years, Adnan said he was quite confident that the party would be able to do so as a public survey showed that the constituents wanted a local to represent them this time around.
"I am from Bandar Tun Razak, the constituency is indeed close to my heart. The patriotism spirit is strong. The previous elected representative was an outsider and had contested the seat merely to achieve a political agenda and not exactly to serve the constituents," he said.
The Bandar Tun Razak constituency has 83,650 voters, 61.96 per cent of whom are Malays, 29.19 per cent are Chinese, 8.18 per cent are Indians and others, 0.67 per cent.
Apart from Adnan, the seat is also contested by Dr Rosni Adam (PAS) and Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar (PKR).
