KJ confident BN will wrest Lembah Pantai

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth chairman Khairy Jamaludin is confident that BN will recapture the Lembah Pantai Parliamentary constituency in the 14th General Election (GE14).

His confidence was based on the growing support of the constituents for the Lembah Pantai BN which had been been showing positive performance despite being defeated in GE13.

"I am confident the residents in Lembah Pantai recognise and appreciate the BN, especially the efforts of Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin who has been here for more than 10 years.

"He is consistent and always helps the people here despite being defeated and was not an elected representative in the last GE13," he told reporters when visiting Taman Lucky, Bangsar, here today.

Khairy attended the programme together with Raja Nong Chik to have a look at the area and spend time with the constituents there.

Asked on the allegation that support from the youth for BN had been declining, he said support from this group was still good and was more open.

He said the support was further strengthened by the positive reaction received for the manifesto Guarantee From the Youth or 'Jaminan Orang Muda' (JOM) presented by the BN.

The Lembah Pantai Parliamentary constituency will face a three-corner contest involving BN candidate Raja Nong Chik; PKR candidate Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil and Fauzi Abu Bakar from PAS.

Meanwhile, Raja Nong Chik said support from the Chinese and Indian communities in Lembah Pantai for the BN was growing with no significant change in support from the Malays.

"They claim that the 'Malay tsunami' was hitting the BN, but we must remember that the tsunami was actually hitting the opposition party because PAS supporters are no longer with them," he said.
