BN candidate for Sentosa seat wants to uplift B40 group

KLANG, April 30 (Bernama) -- The BN candidate for the newly established Sentosa state seat (formerly known as Kota Alam Shah), Datuk Subramaniam T. Retnam wants to uplift the socio economic status of more than 1,800 residents under the B40 group living in the constituency.
The Kota Raja MIC division chief who is fondly known as Datuk R. S. Maniam said he wanted to introduce a group insurance scheme for the people under the segment if given the mandate to represent them in the 14th General Election on May 9.
"This will cost a lot of money but I have plans to help these B40 group besides creating job opportunities for them," he told Bernama.
The 64-year-old businessman said he wanted to address issues of low-cost high rise buildings which did not have an efficient joint management body (JMB), besides working with the federal government in reviving abondoned housing projects in Sentosa.
"We have already resolved JMB issues in Seri Ayu and Golden Villa apartment in Klang," he said.
Subramaniam said he had been serving the constituents in Sentosa for almost 10 years and had opened a service centre in Jalan Sungai Jati, Klang.
"I have been staying in Sentosa for the past 28 years and being a local candidate, I know the pulse and needs of the people," he said, adding there were more than 20,000 Indian voters in the constituency.
The Sentosa state seat will see a five cornered fight involving Subramaniam, Gunarajah R. Georgem of PKR, Rajan Manikesavan of PAS-DHPP, Telai Amblam Mariappan of PRM and Independent candidate Sundarajoo Periasamy.
During the last general election, PKR candidate V. Ganabatirau won the seat with a 13,369 majority.
